---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers 4th International Workshop on Software and Compilers for Embedded Systems SCOPES '99 September 1 - 3, 1999 Schloss Rheinfels, St. Goar, Germany DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: May 1, 1999 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DATE AND VENUE: --------------- The 4th International Workshop on Software and Compilers for Embedded Systems (SCOPES) will take place from September 1 to 3, 1999, at Schloss Rheinfels, St. Goar, Germany. St. Goar is located in the scenic Middle Rhine Valley in central Germany. WORKSHOP SCOPE: --------------- SCOPES '99 is the follow-up event of three previous "International Workshops on Code Generation for Embedded Processors". While main emphasis is still on code generation, the workshop scope has been extended to also cover general issues in embedded software design. Topics of highest interest include: - code generation for embedded processors - specification and validation techniques for embedded software - run-time support and real-time operating systems - software synthesis - software to processor binding for multiprocessor systems RULES FOR ATTENDANCE: -------------------- Attendance is by invitation only. All attendees of the previous workshops will be invited automatically. Any previous attendee may propose additional persons to be invited. Such a proposal should include a statement about activities of the proposed person within the scope of the workshop. All attendees are expected to contribute to the workshop (exceptions can be made upon special request). In the case of several attendees from the same group, only one presentation is required. Invited persons should electronically send an extended abstract of two pages (postscript or ASCII format), including the authors' affiliation and email addresses, to the General Chair by May 1, 1999, indicating the list of co-authors who would also like to attend. Notification about acceptance will be mailed by June 15, 1999. Attendance is limited to about 70 participants. Registrations will be processed on a first-come first-served basis. PUBLICATION: ----------- Authors may submit material (presentation slides or full papers) which will be included in the workshop handouts. There will be no formal proceedings. Depending on the rating of contributions by the program committee, authors may be invited to submit a full paper for a special issue of ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES). Selected contributions from the 1998 workshop held in Witten (Germany) will soon be published as a special issue of Kluwer's Design Automation for Embedded Systems journal. LOCATION: --------- The Middle Rhine Valley, located in central Germany between the cities of Koblenz and Mainz, is named after the river Rhine, and it is famous for its large variety of good wines. The valley is covered with several castles that date back to the Middle Ages. The workshop will be held in the "Villa Rheinfels" building. Villa Rheinfels is a part of the Schloss Rheinfels castle built on a hill above the town of St. Goar in 1245. The castle now serves as a hotel, while Villa Rheinfels offers modern conference facilities. Schloss Rheinfels is located opposite to the famous Loreley Rock and offers an impressive view of the Middle Rhine Valley and the river Rhine. St. Goar is easily accessible by car or train from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf airports. Detailed travel information will be provided through the workshop WWW homepage. WORKSHOP FEE AND ACCOMODATION: ------------------------------ The workshop fee will be about DM 400,- DM. This amount covers conference facilities, meals and coffee breaks during the workshop period, handouts, internet access and social events (boat trip on the river Rhine, including buffet dinner and wine tasting, and a guided tour through the castle).
